Land promotion typically involves a contract between a landowner and a land promoter – either via an Option to buy the land or increasingly via a Promotion Agreement. The land promoter undertakes to promote and pay the associated costs of promoting the landowner’s land through the planning system, and if a planning consent is obtained within the period of the agreement, the land is usually sold.
